Editing

Editing is much more involved compared to copyediting and proofreading. When we edit a document, we review all aspects including content organization, design, tone, style, colors, fonts, and graphics.

When evaluating the design of your communication, we abide by four main principles: alignment, contrast, proximity, and repetition.  Alignment is crucial for a professional look and usability. Proper alignment guides the user in the right direction and makes the end-product easy to understand. Contrast is the ability to distinguish colors and design elements from one another. For instance, good contrast is black text on a white background. Poor contrast would be a light gray text on a light gray or white background. Proximity refers to how every element is placed on the page, and whether or not these elements are spaced appropriately with white space (blank or empty areas). Repetition in a design sense is a good thing. Repeating a word or graphic emphasizes consistency and maintains a single theme.

Editing is ideal if you need a full critique of your document and want to ensure its usability and professionalism. This service includes copyediting in addition to everything mentioned above. Editing is great for scientific reports, product manuals, quick user guides, instructional materials, and marketing materials.
