The goal was to create an informative booklet targeted at teachers who may want to bring their students to the zoo for field trips. The project was researched, written, photographed, designed, and edited as a team and finally put together into the final print product. The booklet was created using Adobe InDesign.

(433 KB)

This guide was created for the “Designing and Testing User Documents” class at Miami University. The goal was to create a small quick reference guide that could fit into a small carrying case. Many things had to be taken into account while creating the guide aside from size dimensions. Color, paper, lamination, and binding method were all very important. The final product was spiral bound and laminated for extra protection and longevity. The guide was created using Adobe InDesign.

Print Promotion: Nurses Week

(8.2 MB)

These posters were created as on-site advertising for National Nurses Week at McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Ohio. The aim was to create a series of posters that could be displayed every year regardless of the National Nurses Week official theme. The nurses felt that the phrase, “Thank you for being my nurse” would work every year. To make sure every nursing department was represented, the nine fields of nursing were divided into three groups: live, love, and heal. Each department staged a photograph for its individual, 18-inch poster. These posters are on display throughout the hospital, and in the lobby is a large 36-inch poster which combines live, love, and heal to join the departments together. The posters were laid out in InDesign and printed on heavy, glossy paper.

Website: Avian Research & Education Institute

This project was a complete redesign of the Avian Research & Education Institute’s website. The project was originally completed as part of the “Visual Rhetoric” class at Miami University. After the project was submitted, the AREI organization selected two websites that they particularly liked, including our submission. Alex later contacted them to express interest in developing a new site for them, which turned out to be a mixture of the original design and the other site design that they liked. The site has been customized and integrated with Wordpress to allow easy content management, user registration, search capability, and news archiving.

Website: AlexGrantz.com v1

This is the previous version of AlexGrantz.com, Alex’s old personal website. It featured an online resume and portfolio along with a few other miscellaneous sections. He used the following technologies to develop the site: PHP, HTML, and CSS.
