Nightmare scenario:
A while back you created a pamphlet to show off some cool programs your museum offers. It looks perfect – except some of the programs are no longer offered to the same grade levels as originally planned. And the hard drive you stored the original files on crashed not too long ago. Looks like you’ll have to create an entirely new pamphlet just because a few grades changed? Nope! Adobe Acrobat Pro’s TouchUp Text Tool makes it easy to change text that may have changed post production.

To get to the TouchUp Text Tool, go to Tools > Advanced Editing > TouchUp Text Tool

TouchUp_Text_1

Now click where you need to edit:

TouchUp_Text_2

Edit your text (in this scenario, we need to change the grade level from Pre-K – 8 to Pre-K – 5).

TouchUp_Text_3

Now save your document and start printing up those copies!

Keep in mind there’s a reason this is called TouchUp Text: you won’t be able to edit entire paragraphs (or really anything involving a line break).

TouchUp_Text_4

As you can tell, that text goes way too far out of line.

But for simple parts of a document that you’re otherwise happy with, this is a great tool (and time saver)!

One extra caveat: I’ve had documents where the TouchUp Text Tool has doubled the file original file size.

I just used this tool for the first time today. I had used mail-merge in Word to create a list of 700+ people with contact info, and then I turned it into a pdf without saving the Word document. I then noticed on the cover page that I had misspelled January.

    Hooray Adobe.
